A workshop was conducted by Kavya Khurana, Senior Manager at Masters’ Union, on 24th February 2025, in the seminar hall of Block 2. With a distinguished career in management consulting, venture investing, and operational leadership, she brought deep industry insights to the session.

Having worked at L.E.K. Consulting in strategy consulting, then transitioning to venture capital at GGB Capital (a $9.2 billion fund), and later serving as Chief of Staff at K12 Techno Services, her experience spanned multiple facets of the business world.

During her session, she provided an in-depth understanding of venture capital (VC), explaining how VC firms focus on early-stage startups with high growth potential. She elaborated on the funding journey of startups, covering the pre-seed, seed, and Series A-D funding rounds, emphasizing the importance of market viability, execution, and financial planning in the investment decision-making process.

Kavya Khurana also highlighted the four critical stages of building a startup:

  • Pre-Seed Challenge – Validating an idea and conducting market research.

  • Minimum Viable Product (MVP) – Developing a basic version of the product for testing.

  • Go-to-Market Strategy – Introducing the product to initial customers and refining the approach.

  • Product-Market Fit – Scaling operations based on demand and customer feedback.

Her insights provided valuable lessons not just for aspiring entrepreneurs but also for students interested in venture capital and corporate strategy. She also discussed India's evolving venture capital landscape, the rise of alternative financing methods like venture debt, and the challenges faced by sectors like agritech and fantasy sports in securing investments due to regulatory constraints.
